Ko'olau Mountains Watershed Partnership

Working together to manage Hawaii’s forested watershed
s

The Ko‘olau Mountains Watershed Partnership (KMWP) is a voluntary alliance of major public and private landowners and partners working together since 1999 to protect the forested mauka areas of
O‘ahu's Ko‘olau Mountains. These areas provide Oahu residents with $7-14 billion worth of nature's benefits from water production and filtration to keeping nearshore areas clean from sedimentation, which can impact reefs and fishing.

The KMWP boundary area consists of approximately 111,407 acres, of which 100,484 acres are in the partnership.  KMWP consists of 16 partners and 8 associate partners, in association with the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit and the University of Hawai‘i.
